Mid Back Pain

Thoracic spondylosis

Thoracic spondylosis is osteoarthritis of the spine, so it similarly affects the joints and is an age-related degenerative condition that is more common in patients over the age of 50. Specifically, it is spinal stenosis that impacts your thoracic vertebrae, which are found in the mid back, so it too includes pain in that area of the back which can radiate towards the legs and feet. This pain is also often more noticeable in the morning or after other longer periods of inactivity.

I can be caused by a variety of factors, especially as one ages, but obesity, lack of exercise, or strenuous work with repetitive motions can often exacerbate these forms of arthritis. Physical therapy is the most common treatment.
